With rain looming on the radar, Bloomington locals looking to soak up some fun while the skies are still clear can take advantage of several outdoor events and activities with this weekend.
Make sure to check out The Sera-Tones performing Friday evening at the Switchyard Park. On Saturday if you’re a Brian Wilson fan, you can listen to several artists while sipping a beer. Then Sunday, enjoy some bingo — or take the family to a movie on Monday, and visit to the local farmers’ market on Tuesday.
Local indie rock band at Switchyard
Bloomington’s own all-girl indie rock trio, The Sera-Tones, will take stage at the Switchyard Park Pavilion lawn at 6 p.m. Friday, June 11. This trio began at band summer camp and went on to release their first EP “Happy But Alone” in March 2024.
Performances honor Brian Wilson
Calling all Beach Boys fans and music lovers — this Saturday, July 12, Bloomington is the place to be! The Sinkhole Craft Beer Bar is hosting a Brian Wilson Tribute Concert at 6 p.m., featuring a lineup of local artists paying homage to the legend of Beach Boys. Expect performances from Dakota Curtis, Greg Moore, U-Station Agents and more, with eats from the Slop Shop food truck and an all-ages outdoor area (weather permitting). Keep an eye out for any changes by following The Sinkhole @thesinkholebeerbar on Facebook. It’s happening at 313 E. Winslow Road.
Bingo and brunch at Cardinal Spirits
Combine free bingo, awesome prizes and a full seasonal brunch menu featuring your favorite day drinks and delicious dishes. It’s happening noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Cardinal Spirits. The 21+ event has local celebrity callers each week. It’s at 922 S. Morton St.
Family Movie Night
If you’re looking to wrap up your week with a family activity, head to the downtown Monroe County Public Library for a movie night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 14. This Sunday feature is “Elemental,” about a fiery young woman and a go-with-the-flow guy who discover how much they have in common while residing in a city where fire, water, land, and air residents all live together. This all-ages screening is perfect for families or anyone looking for a wholesome evening indoors. It’s free, at 303 E. Kirkwood Ave.
Live music served up along with locally grown produce
Nothing says summer more than live music and locally grown produce, so head over to Hopewell Commons from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, for Bloomington Tuesday Farmers’ Market. The market features fresh produce provided by area vendors and live music as a part of Tuesday Tunes. Local guitarist Kade Puckett will perform a funky fingerstyle guitar set from 4:30 to 6 p.m., making it the perfect time to shop and soak up the vibes.
