MERIDIAN TWP. – Spagnuolo’s Restaurant, known for its pasta dishes and pizza, will close its doors this month, more than three decades after it first opened.
The Italian restaurant, at 662 W. Grand River Ave., announced plans to close permanently in a post to the business’s Facebook page on July 2. It opened in 1991 and has operated in Okemos for 34 years.
“During that time we’ve had the honor of hosting your birthdays, anniversaries, bridal and baby showers, holiday gatherings and weekly dinners!” it said. “Our family has treasured the years we have been a part of your lives and want you all to know how much your relationships have meant to us throughout the years. These relationships have fueled our family through the course of business and difficult times.”
Ownership didn’t immediately respond to a message left via social media on Thursday morning.
The restaurant’s last day of operation will be July 11, according to the post. Hours that day are noon to 8 p.m. Aaron Caruso will perform there at 6 p.m. on July 10, according to the post.
Spag’s Bar & Grill, a sports bar in Williamston, is owned by the same family as Spagnuolo’s, and it will remain open, according to a separate post on Spagnuolo’s Facebook page.
