The Cincinnati Bengals don’t sound like a team ready to hit free agency in search of help along the offensive line.
While fans might’ve hoped the Bengals would go after a Brandon Scherff or Dalton Risner after an underwhelming approach to the guard position this year, all signs point to the Bengals keeping things in-house.
The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. recently wrote the following: “New offensive line coach Scott Peters sounds content with those battles, and there hasn’t been a clamoring to add another body to the mix.”

While focusing big assets elsewhere, at guard, the Bengals brought back Cody Ford, signed Lucas Patrick and will trust mid-round rookie Dylan Fairchild to compete with Cordell Volson, who was benched last year.
That’s not totally fair, though, as the Bengals are also placing a big wager on new offensive line coach Scott Peters being able to solve the franchise’s long-running struggles in the trenches, both in terms of talent selection, development and performance.
Keep in mind, though, that training camp injuries and developments could change the team’s tune on outside free agents in a hurry.
