LAFAYETTE, IN — Lafayette’s south side will soon see a new grocery and retail option with the construction of a second Meijer location in the city.
A subdivision request submitted to the Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission before its July 16 meeting shows seven commercial lots spread across 59.1 acres on the southeast quadrant of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Concord Road are to be developed into a new Meijer store.
Amanda Esposito, assistant director of the Area Plan Commission staff, said the request would allow the Michigan-based grocery and retail chain to build their desired number of outlots for other smaller business locations on the property.
No formal plan documents for the store’s construction had been submitted to the APC as of Tuesday.
The newest Meijer, to be built next to the Walmart along Veterans Memorial Parkway, will be Tippecanoe County’s third location.
