HUBBARD – A three-vehicle crash in Dodge County resulted in some minor injuries June 30, according to Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt.
At about 11 a.m., 911 calls reported a crash between a semi tractor and an SUV involving a fire at the intersection of State 33 and County TW in the town of Hubbard.
According to the initial investigation, a 15-year-old Watertown boy was driving the SUV northbound on County TW with a 69-year-old male passenger and stopped at the stop sign before proceeding into the intersection. The SUV collided with a westbound semi driven by a 24-year-old Chicago woman.
The 15-year-old was driving legally on an instructional permit.
A third vehicle — a van driven by a 35-year-old Juneau man — was driving east and struck the SUV after the initial crash. A truck driving behind the van drove off the road into private property, avoiding the crash.
After the crash, the fuel tank of the semi caught fire, and as a result of a significant loss of fuel, State 33 and County TW were closed around the intersection for cleanup.
Both occupants of the SUV were trapped and rescued, reporting minor injuries. Occupants of the other vehicles did not report injuries.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the crash.
