It’s been all sunshine and rainbows for Florida State when it comes to recruiting lately. They’d added 12 commitments over the past two weeks, and they’re in play for four-star athlete Heze Kent, who commits on July 12.
It’s been a two-year journey for FSU in its pursuit of Kent. They first offered him in January of 2023, and they were his fourth offer overall. As his recruitment winds down, Kent has Florida State in his final four schools, and it’s because they’ve been very consistent.
“They preach the same message for four years now — that I’m a top priority for them and they would love for me to come,” Kent told Warchant. “That’s really it.”
Kent is ranked as the No. 149 player nationally and the nation’s No. 9 athlete according to 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder is also the No. 20 prospect in the state of Georgia.
FSU is recruiting Kent as a tight end. However, he plays several different positions at the high level, including taking snaps on the offensive and defensive lines. As a junior, Kent racked up 41 receptions for 983 yards (24 yards per catch) and eight scores. He’s also rushed for 571 yards on 77 carries (7.4 yards per carry) and scored 13 touchdowns over the last two years.
Kent is a superior athlete with all the different things that he can do. The thing that makes Florida State so appealing to him, is their willingness to maximize his abilities.
“They will use me how I am in high school,” said Kent. “Wildcat quarterback, on the ball, hand-down tight end, you know everything. Just how they use me exactly in high school, they’ll use me here.”
Kent would be a big addition to FSU and would give them multiple blue-chip players at tight end for the 2026 cycle to go along with Xavier Tiller.
