BOYNTON BEACH — Police are searching for a 32-year-old man they say shot and killed a 63-year-old couple at their home in the city’s Leisureville neighborhood on June 23.
Jyuno Alexander Daniels was staying with Selicia Noreika and Freddy Bedasie at their house on Southwest 17th Street when a disturbance broke out and the sound of gunshots frightened neighbors in the 55-plus community of single-family homes, Boynton Beach Police Chief Joe DeGiulio said June 25.
DeGiulio said city officers and the U.S. Marshals Service continue to canvass the area between Woolbright Road and Boynton Beach Boulevard just west of Interstate 95 in search of Daniels, who fled after killing the two people with whom he had been staying.
He urged residents to be aware of their surroundings and to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
“If they do see this individual, he is armed. He is dangerous. Call us,” DeGiulio said at a news conference. Police have not discussed a motive for the shootings.
The shootings startled residents of Leisureville, known for its rows of white, cookie-cutter homes with pastel-colored shutters and one and two-car garages. Many residents are “snowbirds” and leave for the summer months to head back north and many of the houses remain vacant this time of year.
Noreika was on an open line to the police dispatch center and what sounded like a disturbance could be heard in the background. During the call, shots could be heard and police lost contact with the caller, DeGiulio said.
Boynton Beach Fire Rescue medics pronounced both people dead from gunshot wounds.
