Officials are asking Abilene drivers and others to find an alternate route and avoid the area where a train derailed at South Third Street and Treadaway Boulevard on Wednesday morning, according to an Abilene police media release. They should expect delays.
The road is closed at South Third and Treadaway because of a minor train derailment, and so traffic will be rerouted for several hours, an Abilene Fire Department Facebook post said.

Abilene police responded about 11:34 a.m. to a call of a train derailment there, a police media release said. Initial reports were that possibly three train cars have gone off the rails but didn’t overturn.
There are no reports of other injuries or other vehicles involved, police said. Treadaway Boulevard will be shut down temporarily while crews clear the tracks.
