Bengals need new faces to don captain status in 2025

The Cincinnati Bengals are going to need some new captains in 2025.

With Sam Hubbard, Germaine Pratt and Vonn Bell gone, the Bengals will look to new players across the roster to sport the “C” on their jerseys next season.

One of the main candidates for the role is the returning B.J. Hill. Ask him? He’s approaching it just how the team would expect a captain to right now.

“I don’t know,” Hill said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “My job is to come out here and lead these guys no matter if I have a C on my chest. My main goal is to push these guys and lead them in the right direction. I’ve always been a leader, always led by example, and always led by my words.”

Other candidates for the “C” include names like linebacker Logan Wilson. But one can imagine he’s not sweating it much in the same way Hill isn’t.

Hill is about as notable as it gets, though. The team showed a serious vote of confidence in him by dipping into the pool of resources to keep him in free agency when it was generally accepted that he might be gone.

If he gets a “C” this year, Hill’s responsibilities would go far beyond just acting as a mentor for Kris Jenkins Jr. and McKinnley Jackson. From the sounds of it, though, he’s doing that already, anyway.
