PORT ST. LUCIE – A 30-year-old motorcycle rider died following a June 14 crash on Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway, according to Port St. Lucie Police.
Police on June 16 identified Eduardo Alejandro Medrano, of Port St. Lucie, as the motorcycle rider who died after the early morning, single-vehicle crash.
Police about 2:15 a.m. June 14 went to the incident in the 2100 block of Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway, the agency stated.
A preliminary investigation determined a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle operated by Medrano traveled south on Southeast Veterans Memorial Parkway and started to negotiate a curve.
“Medrano lost control of the motorcycle and entered the grassy shoulder of the roadway where the motorcycle was laid on its left side,” police stated. “The motorcycle slid by a palm tree as Medrano was separated from the motorcycle.”
Medrano, who wore a helmet, hit the palm tree and sustained serious injuries.
He was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce where he died, police stated.
Police reported it doesn’t appear excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
Those who saw the crash or have video surveillance are asked to contact Traffic Homicide Investigator S. Tomczyk at 772-871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crimestoppers at 800-273-8477.
