Rehlko, formerly Kohler Energy, laying off 66 workers at Saukville site ahead of plant closure

SAUKVILLE – Rehlko will lay off more than 60 workers as part of plans to close its Saukville facility by the end of 2025, according to a recent notice.

Impacted by the closure are 66 workers at the site, 300 N. Dekora Woods Blvd.

Layoff waves, affecting maintenance technicians, operators and others, will start around Aug. 8, Sept. 5 and Dec. 31, according to a notice filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

“We are committed to best serving our customers and business to ensure long-term success. Rehlko does not comment on operating matters,” Rehlko said in a statement to the Sheboygan Press.

Rehlko did not respond to questions about why the Saukville plant is closing. The Sheboygan Press could not immediately learn if the affected workers would go to other Rehlko sites.

The employees are not part of the United Auto Workers Local 833 or another union, and they are not eligible for bumping rights.

Rehlko, formerly Kohler Energy, split from Kohler Co. last year. Local 833 has had some issues with Rehlko, previously telling the Sheboygan Press members faced payroll issues, staffing challenges and noncompliance with its contract.
