Bucs' Haason Reddick on Yaya Diaby: 'He's helping me out on a little bit'

Last year, Haason Reddick did a lot to hurt his reputation by handling a contract situation he was not happy with. Every player is advised differently and, as a result, gets good and bad advice. For Reddick, the advice is some that, in hindsight, he wishes he had pivoted away from sooner, but it seems that he is happy to move on from.

Now that he is in Tampa Bay, everyone asked if he would show up to the mandatory minicamp. He answered that earlier this week when he did. He then answered more questions when he spoke to the media on Wednesday.

One of the questions he was asked was about how he is handling adjusting to being in Tampa Bay and how he will be working with Yaya Diaby opposite him. His answer was enlightening and one that should have Bucs fans excited.

“He’s getting into that – I think it’s his third year now, he’s transitioning into that stage where you can see he’s becoming a vet. You can see he’s starting to understand the game. To be honest, he’s been helping me out on a little bit of things as far as, ‘Look, you got this on this play, we got that on these,’ as far as the new installs. You can see that as young as he is, he’s transitioning into being a vet. He’s one of those guys that I was talking about, getting a workout in with a couple other young guys yesterday. He’s doing everything the right way. As long as he continues that, he’ll continue to progress and to go in the direction that he wants to go.”

Hearing an All-Pro like Reddick speaking with that type of enthusiasm, while also praising his fellow edge rushing partner, has to be music to Bucs fans’ ears.

The Bucs need to have a consistent pass rush presence in 2025 if they want to take the next step as a team. Both to help out their secondary but to be able to create more chaos on defense. If Reddick and Diaby can do that together, then the Bucs defense will be cooking with gas once again.
