Matanzas High School Principal Kristin Bozeman, who was named Flagler Schools’ Principal of the Year, is stepping down from the top spot at that school.
Flagler Schools Superintendent LaShakia Moore made the announcement Thursday morning in a meeting with Matanzas High School faculty and staff, according to a school district press release. The search for a new principal is now underway with plans to have the school’s new leader, its fifth principal overall, in place before thebeginning of the 2025-26 school year.
Previously a director of Instructional Personnel in St. Johns County, Bozeman was named principal at Matanzas prior to the 2022-23 school year. After three years in that leadership role, she and her family are relocating to start a new chapter in their lives.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the students, families, faculty and staff of Matanzas High School,” Bozeman stated in the announcement. “This community has shaped me as a leader and as a person, and I’m deeply grateful for every lesson, challenge and celebration we’ve shared. As I begin this new chapter, I carry with me a heart full of appreciation for the incredible journey we’ve taken together these past three years.”
Flagler Schools’ administration has begun gathering input from stakeholders to make the transition to a new prinicpal at Matanzas, the announcement stated.
“Principal Bozeman has led Matanzas High School with grace, dedication and an unwavering commitment to student success,” Moore said. “Her impact is evident in the growth of the campus culture and the many lives she’s touched along the way.
“While we will miss her presence in Flagler Schools, we fully support her next adventure and look forward to building on the strong foundation she helped create at Matanzas.”
