A Cottonwood man died over the weekend when the electric scooter he was riding collided with a pickup in Cottonwood.
The collision happened at the intersection of Gas Point Road and Park Drive around 10 p.m. Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.
Investigators said a man driving a Ford F250 was going west on Gas Point. As the truck entered the intersection, the pickup collided with an electric scooter that was going south on Park Drive.
After the collision, the man in the truck drove to the north shoulder of Gas Point Road and got out. That’s when he saw the man who was riding the scooter under the truck, the CHP said.
The truck driver called 911. But when paramedics arrived, they were unable to save the 34-year-old scooter rider, the CHP said.
The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation.
