EVANSVILLE — Authorities released the name of a bicyclist who died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday, identifying him as 77-year-old James E. Martin Sr.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office stated in a news release Tuesday morning that Martin “succumbed to his injuries” after paramedics transported him to Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
Martin was riding an electric bicycle when he was struck at the South Evans Avenue and Bellemeade Avenue intersection around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to county officials and Evansville Police Department records.
A police report states that the involved motorist was taken to a local hospital for a blood draw.
Chief Deputy Coroner Amy Miller said city police were “continuing the investigation.”
