The second round of the 2025 PGA Championship is in full swing, and the top of the leaderboard Friday is still littered with unexpected contenders to win the Wannamaker Trophy. It also means there some of golf’s best are struggling, and a few are in danger of missing the weekend at the second major of the year.
The projected cut line and the golfers who don’t make it to Saturday’s third round is its own compelling storyline at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte on Friday. Only the top 70 golfers, including ties, on the PGA Championship leaderboard after 36 holes qualify to play the third and fourth rounds, and there’s a who’s who of golfers to keep tabs on based on their first-round performance.
Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson are among the former major winners flirting with the projected cut line during the second round. The chase to reach the weekend is officially on for a batch of the best golfers in the world.
