BELOIT ‒ Deborah J. Helm was appointed Wednesday night to fill a vacancy on the West Branch Local Board of Education.
Helm, 61, replaces Aaron Hawk who resigned April 16 for family reasons. She was one of eight applicants for the open seat.
Helm has worked 30 years for Crandall Medical Center, and her duties have included managing technical operations, educating staff and supervising nurses.
All of her children have graduated from West Branch High School, according to a district press release. Her husband, Mike, and her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Rohaley, teach in the district, according to her application.
Helm is a 1982 graduate of Marlington High School.
“The Board of Education and school district is very happy to welcome her to the school board,” the district said in its release.
The other applicants were: Radawn Barnett, Derek Day, Phillip Dickens, Alexandria Davenport, Karen Harris, Alyssa Pidgeon and John Ryser.
