Thirteen Months – May 6th, 1966

By Paul Churchill

It had been fairly quiet except for a couple patrols each day. Pretty light schedule when compared to the past few weeks.

Got your letter yesterday and since I have a little daylight left I am going see if I can’t get you an answer before dark. Sure was glad to hear that Dave is well and was real proud of Kathy. I used to love spelling bees but I don’t think I was ever that good.

Boy, talk about feeling tired and lazy, this place does the trick. The only trouble is that in spite of feeling dead tired I can’t sleep. I go to bed about ten or eleven and wake up between 4 and 5 every night. I guess I’m just too keyed up and excited all the time. Oh well, my night will come.

After a little more family chit chat I said,

I guess that’s about all I have for now. There’s not really much to say about this place and I said too much of that last time.

I was feeling bad about unloading on them about Pfc Ruch.
