In a rarity for them, the Green Bay Packers will be playing their third straight Thanksgiving Day game as they take on their NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions, on Nov. 27 at Ford Field in Detroit.
The Packers beat the Miami Dolphins at Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving last year and, the previous year, beat the Lions at Ford Field in a game that ignited Green Bay’s last-season run to the playoffs.
The loss two years ago will certainly be on the minds of Lions players, as will the Week 1 game this season when the Packers won in dominating fashion, 27-13.
The Packers enter the game coming off a similarly dominant 23-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, while the Lions had to rally for a 34-27 victory in overtime over the New York Giants.

In the Packers’ win over the Vikings, coach Matt LaFleur showed his willingness to commit to the run. Green Bay finished the game with a season-high 42 carries for a hard-fought 146 yards and two touchdowns with backup Emanuel Wilson (28 carries, 107 yards, two touchdowns) doing most of the damage.
The Packers received a bit of good news on the injury front as running back Josh Jacobs is expected to be back in the starting lineup.
