The Green Bay Packers have an early 10-0 lead after an incredible scoring play engineered by Jordan Love and Dontayvion Wicks in the first half of Thursday’s holiday showdown with the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
On 4th-and-2 from the Lions’ 22-yard line, Matt LaFleur kept the offense on the field, and Love and Wicks rewarded the gamble with a terrific throw and catch. Love lofted the ball into the end zone, and Wicks made the catch in traffic and got two feet down in bounds to complete the play.
It initially appeared that Wicks did not get two feet down in bounds, but replays showed Wicks completed the catch with a foot on the ground, and he got a second foot down in bounds. The scoring play was upheld on review.
Here’s the scoring play:
Instead of settling for a field goal and a potential 6-0 lead, LaFleur went for more and it paid off.
Love has completed 5-of-11 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown to start Thanksgiving Day.
