Antonio Senzatela had a whirlwind of a day.
This morning, he landed in Milwaukee after spending 15 years playing for the Colorado Rockies organization, and by 8 pm, he was pitching his first game as a Milwaukee Brewer.
“It feels a little weird,” Senzatela said after the game.
The Brewers traded for the right-handed pitcher in the final hour before the MLB trade deadline on Monday afternoon. The turnaround was so quick that Senzatela’s teammate and starting pitcher, Logan Henderson, didn’t realize that he had made it to Milwaukee until he saw Senzatela warming up in the bullpen during the fifth inning.
Henderson said the first time they met was when Senzatela told him, “Good game,” in the dugout in between innings.
Senzatela only pitched one full inning with one walk, but was able to keep it scoreless.
“I’ve always loved the kid from afar,” Brewers Manager Pat Murphy said after the game.
Senzatela relied heavily on sinkers during his single inning, a pitch that he didn’t frequently use in his time in Colorado.
Murphy said that conversations around adapting Senzatela’s pitching style to the Brewers’ needs happened while they were attempting to acquire him from the Rockies.
Senzatela said after the game that the sinker “felt good”, so he decided to keep using it throughout.
Murphy said that he thought Senzetela had a “great” first outing.
On the Brewers, Senzatela joins fellow Team Venezuela members Jackson Chourio and William Contreras. All three played together in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
“He’s a tremendous person,” Chourio said of Senzatela.
Postgame, Senzatela expressed his excitement to play for the Brewers organization. “I always liked this ballpark and these fans,” he said.
Senzatela’s solid first outing as a Brewer puts him in a good position to be a reliable reliever for the team down the stretch and into the postseason.
