A 20-year-old Milwaukee man died following a crash on the interstate near Oak Creek on Wednesday evening, July 29.
Mohamed Haris Bin Mohamed Hanif was traveling north on Interstate 41/94 when he struck the back of a semi-trailer that was coming to a rolling stop in a construction zone, according to a statement from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Mohamed Hanif sustained “significant trauma,” according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies responded, as did Oak Creek police.
The Oak Creek Fire Department also responded and attempted lifesaving measures on Mohamed Hanif, but he was pronounced dead on scene, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred just after 10 p.m. July 29 near Rawson Avenue. The northbound lane was fully shut down from Drexel Avenue to Rawson Avenue for about five hours to allow for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office reconstruction unit to map the scene and preserve evidence.
The lanes were reopened just after 3 a.m., according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
