Milwaukee Fire Department responds to east side high-rise after heavy smoke

A heavy amount of smoke at a high-rise on North Prospect Avenue in Milwaukee resulted in a large response from the fire department, who shut down the busy east side street for a short period on March 9.

“All smoke, no heat, no fire,” said Deputy Fire Chief Travis Jones, adding no injuries were reported.

The Milwaukee Fire Department responded at 8:44 p.m. to the street. Jones didn’t have a precise address but said it was an eight-story building.

Jones said the building was not evacuated but dozens self-evacuated.
