Conservationists have been stopping by all spring to pick up wood duck, bluebird and bat houses.
Members of the Maribel Sportsmen’s Club, Francis Creek Sportsman Club and Friends of the Branch River Watershed have been building since January — and we’re caught up again. That means I can once again share in my column that houses are available.

These houses are provided to conservation-minded individuals to place on the landscape and improve nesting opportunities for these species.
Donations go directly toward supplies so we can keep the project going.
If you’d like a house, call me, Bob Schuh, at 920-682-3106 to arrange pickup.

Wisconsin DNR Fish & Wildlife Spring Hearings: How to vote and attend April 13
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Conservation Congress invite the public to attend the annual Fish & Wildlife Spring Hearings on Monday, April 13, at 6 p.m., to learn about — and provide input on — resource management in Wisconsin.
An online opportunity for public input will also be available from 6 p.m. April 13 through 6 p.m. April 15.
At in-person hearings, DNR staff and WCC delegates will discuss local issues, answer questions and encourage dialogue between the public, the DNR and the WCC.
The WCC will also hold delegate elections at each meeting. Two of the five WCC seats will be up for election in each county.
The public is invited to provide feedback on fish, wildlife and other natural resources topics as part of the spring hearing process. Submit input via a QR code at hearing locations on April 13, online from 6 p.m. April 13 through 6 p.m. April 15, or on paper forms available at each in-person meeting.
The Wisconsin Conservation Congress is the only statutory body in the state where the public elects delegates to advise the Natural Resources Board and the DNR on responsibly managing natural resources for present and future generations. Learn more on the DNR’s Wisconsin Conservation Congress webpage.
Local note: The Wisconsin Conservation Congress Spring Hearings will be held at the UW-Green Bay Manitowoc Campus on Monday, April 13 (new location this year). Doors open at 6 p.m., the presentation begins at 6:30 p.m., and voting starts at 7 p.m.
That’s it for this week, so have fun in the great outdoors.
