Construction on Lincoln Avenue in West Allis will be resuming in early April, according to a news release from the City of West Allis.
Beginning April 6, construction will take place in the middle of the intersection at Lincoln Avenue and National Avenue.
Drivers should expect closures and detours as crews will remove asphalt and pour permanent concrete into the intersection.
The intersection work is expected to continue through April 10.

Lincoln Avenue construction: closures and updates
Eastbound and westbound Lincoln Avenue will be reduced to a single lane of traffic, and both left-turn lanes will be closed. No left turns will be allowed in any direction during construction.
Eastbound National Avenue traffic will not be able to cross the intersection. Drivers will be required to turn onto eastbound Lincoln Avenue and then left onto 92nd Street to reconnect with National Avenue.
Westbound National Avenue traffic will not be able to turn left. Drivers will be able to continue straight or turn right.

Background
West Allis and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation hired GRAEF – a Milwaukee-based engineering consulting firm – to design the reconstruction of West Lincoln Avenue from South 93rd Street to South 97th Street, according to the city’s website.
Real estate acquisition, final design and utility coordination for the project began in 2024.
What’s next?
Remaining work in the area will be completed by shifting lane closures through April to May. According to the city, sod is also expected to be installed in June.
The project is estimated to complete by June 2026.
