Dürr CTS Inc. will permanently close its De Pere manufacturing plant beginning Oct. 13, eliminating 75 jobs, according to an Aug. 12 notice filed with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
The layoffs at the plant, 830 Prosper Road, will take place in phases as the company moves toward a complete closure. The first phase will begin Oct. 13, followed by a second phase Dec. 31, although that phase could begin as early as Dec. 1 based on operational needs. The third and final phase is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2027, but could begin as early as Jan. 2.
The closure will result in the elimination of 75 employees across 29 job categories.
Hourly employees are represented by the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Local Union No. 18-SM in Waukesha.
Certain employees may have bumping rights beginning Oct. 13 under the facility’s collective bargaining agreement. However, employees will no longer have bumping rights after the plant permanently closes.
Dürr CTS has operated in De Pere since 1961, and the location serves as a key North American engineering hub and one of the company’s two manufacturing sites in the region, according to the company’s website.
Dürr CTS has two U.S. locations, in De Pere and Southfield, Michigan. The Clean Technology Systems division also includes Dürr Universal Inc., which was founded in 1959, is headquartered in Stoughton, Wisconsin, and has been part of the division since 2018.
