6-year-old was among three people injured in a shooting Oct. 18 near Marquette University

Three people, including a 6-year-old, were injured in a shooting Oct. 18 near Marquette University, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of North 19th Street, near Marquette University’s Norris Park, police said. Three people — a 38-year-old, 6-year-old and 23-year-old — sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Milwaukee police are looking for a suspect or suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.

While non-fatal shootings are down 22% from last year and 40% from 2023, according to the latest quarterly crime data, Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said far too many involve the city’s youth.
