Gone to the Dogs Pool Party
The Witter Park Aquatics Center will end its pool season with a Gone to the Dogs Pool Party from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at 681 Chestnut St. in Wisconsin Rapids. Dogs are welcome to enjoy the pool with a $5 ticket per dog and a donation from the South Wood County Humane Society’s wish list. All dogs must have proof of current rabies vaccinations. Concessions will be available for purchase during the event, as well. Any dog showing any sign of aggression and not under the voice control of their handler must leave immediately. All dogs must be friendly with dogs and people, sociable and well-mannered. Per the city’s website, no two-legged swimmers will be allowed to enter the water, but those who want to come watch the pups swim can attend with a donation to the South Wood County Humane Society. Meet the Artists on Opening Night
Olio Arts & Music Center will premiere “The Essence of Wood as Material & Muse” with a chance to meet the artists at the exhibit’s opening night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at 2651 Eighth St. S. in Wisconsin Rapids. Artists will be at the event, sharing more about their process of creating art from wood. The event is free and open to the public. For more information,
ODC’s Run, Walk, ROCK and Roll
Opportunity Development Center will host its Run, Walk, ROCK and Roll event from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 at Rooted in Red, 1060 Center St. in Biron. The event is free and open to the public with several opportunities to donate funds to help ODC. Festivities include live music with Back Porch Jam from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Southbound from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Food trucks will be set up at the event, as well as bounce houses and an “Amazing Race” scavenger hunt. Raffle baskets, large raffles and children’s raffles also will be offered.
