Silly Saturday
STC Comedy, a comedian group, will host Silly Saturday: Kids Friendly Improv from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at The Opera House, 1124 Main St. in Stevens Point. The event is family friendly, although children must be at least 8 years old to attend. Anyone younger than 15 must be accompanied by a legal guardian for the entire event. The event will include fast-paced interactive improv games and character building where children will be able to create their own unique personas and act out short scenes. Children participating should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers and bring water bottles and big imaginations. For more information, find STC Comedy on Facebook.
Beer, Cheese for Pets Please
The Humane Society of Portage County will host Beer, Cheese for Pets Please from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at Feltz’s Dairy Store at 5759 Porter Drive in Stevens Point. Tickets are buy-one-get-one-free for $40 general admission and $20 for a non-alcoholic ticket. Guests must be 21 years or older for an alcohol ticket. Children 11 years and younger can attend for free and will have access to the playground. Other festivities include live music from Gray Catz, raffle baskets, 50/50 tickets, a silent sports auction including golf collectibles and items from the Packers and Brewers and more. Craft brews and hard samples will be available from Point Brewery, as well as the brand’s root beer and sodas. Cheese is provided by local Wisconsin cheese makers, and other food will be available for purchase at the event, as well. Pets will not be permitted at this event. Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament
The Opera House will host a Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 22 at 1124 Main St. in Stevens Point. For a $5 ticket, players can compete for a shot at the grand prize cash pool equal to half of all pre-registration fees. Guests are asked to arrive no later than 6 p.m. for the tournament that will kick off at 7 p.m. and will run until a winner is determined. The tournament will run bracket-style with single eliminations. The matches will be best-of-three throws per round. In the finals, competition will be best-of-five and will be held on the main stage.
