In the third set of rankings of the 2025 campaign, the College Football Playoff Committee kept Texas A&M at No. 3, entering the Aggies’ Week 14 contest against the Texas Longhorns.
Since the CFP rankings first began three weeks ago, head coach Mike Elko and company have remained in the same position with an unblemished record and one win away from accomplishing a feat that has been untouched since 1994, when R.C. Slocum led the Aggies to a 10-0-1 record. In just his second season at the helm, Elko boasts an overall record of 16-5.
While the Maroon and White achieved their first eight-win season since 2021 under Elko’s leadership, this season has propelled the program to historic heights, making it only the third squad in the school’s storied history to reach 11-0 (1939 and 1992). This Friday’s rendition of the Lone Star Showdown from Austin, Texas, will determine whether the Aggies will make more history by reaching the Southeastern Conference Championship. To do so, they must win or have Alabama lose the Iron Bowl to Auburn and Ole Miss drop the Egg Bowl to Mississippi State.
With college football pandemonium at its peak entering Week 14, here is where every team, including Texas A&M, was ranked in Tuesday night’s CFP Rankings Show:
With this week’s ranking, Texas A&M would receive the third seed and face the winner of Miami and Oregon. Before the Aggies can begin to prepare for whatever matchup they receive in the CFP, Elko and company will look to take care of business in the first game at Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium since 2010 on Friday night.
