Texas Football RB Quintrevion Wisner reinjures hamstring against Florida

After entering Gainesville with high expectations, the Longhorns suffered one of their worst losses in years on Saturday. As they struggled to get anything going offensively, they also got bad news on the injury front. Running back Quintrevion Wisner reinjured his hamstring.

In his return to action, the Texas native recorded 11 yards on eight carries. He also hauled in two catches for 17 yards and found the endzone twice. His injury, unfortunately, came after he provided the Longhorns offense with a spark when he hauled in his first touchdown reception of the season to cut the Gators’ lead to 29-21 late in the fourth quarter.

Following his second touchdown of the day, Wisner was seen reaching for his right hamstring as he left the field. He didn’t return to action after that, and the Longhorns left Gainesville with a 3-2 record and their first loss in conference play. For the Longhorns, his injury comes at the worst time, as the running game has been a huge issue this season.

Through five games, Arch Manning leads the team in rushing yards with 160. No Longhorns running back has more than 155, and against Florida, Texas finished with 52 rushing yards on 26 attempts. That is not going to cut it in SEC play and puts more pressure on Manning.

Entering the 2025 campaign, the Longhorns were hoping that Wisner would be a key piece of the offense. Last season, he set career highs in rushing yards with 1,064, carries with 226, and touchdowns with five. As the talented junior showed he could make an impact with legs, the Longhorns’ offense was hard to stop. So far, that has not been the case as Wisner has 26 carries this season.

While the Longhorns await word on whether Wisner will miss time, they hope he will not have to miss any games. The Longhorns’ rushing attack can’t afford to be without one of its top options after a dismal start.
