Texas authorities have identified a Tennessee man who died late Friday in a single-vehicle crash in Randall County.
Leland Bart Townsend, a 65-year-old from Selmer, Tennessee, died at an Amarillo-area hospital after the crash that was reported about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21 on FM 1541 north of Venetia Road in Randall County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Investigators believe Townsend was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado north on FM 1541 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to maintain a single lane, left the roadway, entered the ditch and the vehicle rolled over. Townsend was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Conditions were listed as clear and dry at the time of the crash.
Other factors contributing to the crash were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing.
