Texas authorities have identified a 23-year-old man who died after his motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer early Wednesday near Amarillo.
Investigators believe Kaden Mathias Arena of Amarillo was traveling north on FM 1151 at a high rate of speed as a Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling south on the FM road and set to turn left onto the entrance ramp of SL 335, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Not seeing the fast-approaching motorcycle, the truck tractor driven by Jose Angel Romero Medrano, 33 of Amarillo, attempted to turned left into the path of the motorcycle, which caused the motorcycle to strike the truck on the passenger side.
The motorcyclist was taken to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
Other factors contributing to the crash were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing.
