The Texas Longhorns are back at it today, hoping to rebound from a devastating loss at Georgia. It has been a week filled with frustration and rumors, with UT coach Steve Sarkisian making not one, but two public statements about his future.
The Arkansas Razorbacks travel to Austin to take on Texas at Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium today at 2:30 p.m. CT. The Hogs and the Horns have renewed a century old rivalry that took a 32-year break. Arkansas joined the SEC in 1992. UT followed in 2024.
In fact, when the SEC announced the league was moving to a nine-game schedule next season, it designated three rivals for each team that would be played annually. In addition to Texas A&M and Oklahoma, the Razorbacks are Texas’ third rival. So it’s officially a rivalry again.
While the loss in Athens crushed the Longhorns dreams of making the college football playoff, Texas isn’t completely dead yet. While UT will need a lot of help from around college football, the Horns must win both of their remaining games to even have a shot.
