Impressive 3rd-round rookie leaves Cowboys camp with undisclosed injury

The Dallas Cowboys are well into Week 2 of their training camp, which means the bumps and bruises are starting to add up. The latest casualty was rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham, who left the field during Thursday’s practice with an apparent injury.

It was not immediately known what Barham’s ailment was, but he went into the injury tent with the trainer and didn’t return. There was no visible sign of injury before walking off, so Cowboys fans will have to hold their breath until getting an update of what happened.

The rookie has been one of the best players in camp thus far, and it would be a shame if Barham missed time. When he was drafted in the third-round of April’s draft, it was unclear where Barham would play on defense but he’s been lining up at MLB early in training camp.

He’s been so impressive that he’s also been taking first-team reps in the middle and could be on his way to securing a starting job on Christian Parker’s defense. To make that happen, Barham needs to continue to learn and stay on the field, so any injury would be a setback.

The Cowboys have had a great start to camp, so any significant injury to Barham would dampen the mood. The uncomfortable wait to find out the rookie’s status begins.
