Whether you teach kindergarteners their ABCs or instruct high schoolers in calculus, Whataburger is celebrating all teachers this week.
Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated during the first full week of May. This is a chance to celebrate the impactful educators in your life, with kind words, thoughtful letters, or a gift.
Former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt pushed Congress to officially establish it in 1953, though at the time, it was only one day. In 1986, the National Education Association (NEA), with “overwhelming support for honoring teachers,” called on it to be extended to a full week.
This year, it’s not just students and parents honoring teachers — popular chains like Whataburger are offering specials to educators this week.
Whataburger offers teachers free breakfast entrées, $1K grants
The San Antonio-based chain is doing its part in celebrating teachers. Whataburger customers with a valid teacher ID can enjoy a free breakfast menu item: Options include a Taquito with cheese, a Breakfast on a Bun or a Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. This offer is available for dine-in, drive-thru and takeout but excludes in-app and online purchases.
The free breakfast entrées are still available Thursday and Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., so don’t wait to treat yourself!
Whataburger is also awarding $1,000 in classroom grants to 75 educators to celebrate its 75th anniversary. A total of $75,000 will benefit local students across the 16 states with Whataburger locations.
“These WhataTeacher grants shine a spotlight on the incredible teachers who go above and beyond to make a real difference in their schools and communities,” the chain said in a press release.
