High school football: Jacksboro's Cornish, Electra's Booth lead 35 on Week 9 Honor Roll

Week 9 of the high school football season produced several meaningful district results in the Wichita Falls area.

That means the top performances were carried significant weight as we round the turn for the final stretch of the regular season.

Here are five athletes who stood out among the 35 players who qualified for the Week 9 Honor Roll.

Daxton Anderson, Windthorst

Anderson made a major defensive impact, recording nine tackles, three tackles for loss, and two interceptions, setting the tone for Windthorst’s defense in a convincing win against Haskell.

Micah Booth, Electra

Booth made his presence felt on both sides of the ball, amassing 189 total yards and two touchdowns while anchoring the defense with 17 tackles and a tackle for loss. His all-around performance was the backbone of Electra’s effort in a key 22-20 victory against Archer City.

Lucas Cornish, Jacksboro

Cornish dominated in the trenches, recording 10 tackles and four sacks. His relentless pressure constantly disrupted the opposing quarterback and set the tone for a Jacksboro defense credited with 10 sacks against Henrietta.

Kason Gee, Petrolia

Gee was unstoppable on the ground, pounding out 216 rushing yards and three touchdowns. His consistent production helped Petrolia control the tempo and move the chains in key moments against Munday.

Malachi Williams, City View

Williams showcased his dual-threat ability, throwing for 181 yards and two touchdowns while adding 77 rushing yards and two more scores on the ground. But it was his poise in the game’s final quarter that made the difference, putting the offense on its back and carrying the Mustangs to a 34-27 victory against Holliday.
