After a week of speculation, Texas A&M has officially reshaped its weekend rotation for the first time this season.
Head coach Michael Earley hinted several weeks ago that adjustments might be coming, and on Thursday he confirmed the move: sophomore right‑hander Aiden Sims has been elevated from the Sunday role to the Game 2 starter, while Shane Sdao remains in the Friday slot. Sims has been one of the Aggies’ most consistent arms of late, earning SEC Pitcher of the Week honors and, in Earley’s words, a well‑deserved promotion
“Moving Aiden (Sims) up helps with the week and setting him up. We wanted to get him in that role. He earned it and deserves it.”
The final piece of the rotation is still unsettled, with Sunday listed as TBD, but all signs point to Weston Moss getting the first opportunity essentially swapping spots with Sims for now. Moss has been stretched out and remains one of the staff’s most trusted options, making him the logical next man up as A&M continues to stabilize its pitching heading into the heart of SEC play.
