Throughout the season, fans voted for Happy State Bank Athlete of the Week, with the player who received the most votes picking up the honor. Each player who was nominated for Athlete of the Week was also up for Globe-News Athlete of the Year.

Perry received 14,042 votes, which accounted for 46.56% of the 30,162 total votes. Tascosa basketball’s Jaemon Palacios was the runner-up, finishing with 7,166 votes while Happy football player Braylan King rounded out the top three with 2,271 votes.

Perry had a good season for the Falcons on the gridiron, but earned Athlete of the Week honors for his efforts on the track. A talented sprinter, the multi-sport star earned medals in the 100 and 200-meter dash at the area track meet in addition to helping Bushland’s sprint relay team to a first-place finish.

Perry’s impressive performance in his individual events earned the 2025 graduate a spot on the track at the Texas Relays in Austin, one of the most prestigious annual high school track meets.
