Roman Nino, Carroll (215)
Carroll wrestler Roman Nino capped his senior season with a historic performance after becoming the first boys wrestler in Carroll history to win a UIL state championship. Competing at 215 pounds, Nino captured the state title at the Berry Center in Cypress earlier this year to cement himself as one of the top wrestlers in South Texas. His championship run, which included district and regional titles, helped lead the Tigers to a standout showing on the state’s biggest stage and the end result was Nino earning Caller-Times All-South Texas Boys Wrestling MVP honors.

Genevieve Bellino, Carroll (120)
Carroll’s Genevieve Bellino continued her dominance in her high school wrestling career by capturing her second consecutive UIL state championship in the 120-pound weight class at the Berry Center in Cypress earlier this season. Bellino’s title highlighted another strong season to help her become one of the area’s most accomplished wrestlers in the state. Bellino concludes her season as a district, regional and state champion, earning her All-South Texas Girls Wrestling MVP honors.
