McVea was being held Tuesday evening in the Taylor County Jail on a $1 million bond in connection with a May 10, 2025, incident, according to online jail records.

The woman was found deceased from an apparent drug overdose in May 2025 in her bathroom at a home in the 2100 block of North 18th Street, police said in a media release. Family discovered her dead.

Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Murder is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison.
