Will they shoot us in the legs?
Sadly, it’s time to accept that we are now living in a country where President DDD (deception-distraction-division) is working hard to create conflict between its military and police forces and its people.
Examples, of course, are his recent claims of the need for National Guard, Marines and FBI to battle rampant crime, death and destruction in Los Angeles and now in Washington, D.C.
This despite recent FBI studies showing nearly all crime is down in these areas and, largely, across the nation.
The important question now is: Will America’s military and police forces refuse his illegal orders, or will they submit to his command to “shoot them in the legs,“ later claiming that they were only following orders.
What do you think? In the future, if you are one to attend anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, anti-fascist protests, it may be wise for safety’s sake to pack, along with your sunblock and water bottles, a tourniquet.

The Columbus Promise changes lives
The next time you’re tempted to slam elected officials, think twice.
“The Columbus Promise isn’t just about a college degree: How one grad turned it into a career, Aug. 12, explains how Columbus public school students get a chance to thrive.
City Council President Shannon Hardin leads one of the most consequential education and job initiatives in our city’s history.
The Columbus Promise is about doing things The Columbus Way. Columbus State and central Ohio businesses stack hands to provide students with free college and paid job experience to literally guarantee a bright future.
Where so many young people struggle, fighting back against mental health issues and tough odds, the Columbus Promise proudly stands as a beacon of light.
A simple thank you to partner companies like OhioHealth, Nationwide and IGS Energy hardly seems enough.
I am proud to live in a city where young people are not only given a chance, but are more likely to stay here and grow with our community.

We still want the files
Once again, President Donald Trump has distracted the news cycle.
All the talk about the Epstein files disappeared when Trump announced he was sending the National Guard into Washington, D.C.
Surely the years-long organized rape and trafficking of children deserves our attention.Let’s see the Epstein files.Let’s see the Epstein files.Let’s see the Epstein files.

Doomed to repeat
In reaction to the recent Dispatch front-page headline, “ICE seeks tips from public on hotline,” I am reminded of the well-known writing of Pastor Martin Niemöller after World War II: to paraphrase, first they came for immigrants, and I did not speak out because I am not an immigrant … then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out.
I am also reminded of the adage that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
