One step on a defender is all it takes.
A perfectly timed route, a clean release off the line and suddenly a quarterback has a receiver streaking down the field with nothing but open grass ahead.
Wide receivers can change a game in an instant. Whether it’s hauling in a contested catch, stretching the field with deep speed or turning a short pass into a highlight-reel touchdown, they’re often the players who provide football’s biggest moments.
With that in mind, here are the top 15 wide receivers entering the 2026 high school football season in the Times-Reporter coverage area.
The top seven are ranked, followed by honorable mentions listed alphabetically.
7. Carsen Hostetler (Sr.), Indian Valley WR
As a junior, Hostetler totaled 10 receptions, 252 yards and four touchdowns to earn second team in the Inter Valley Conference. He has a knack for gaining yards, totaling over 500 all purpose yards in his junior campaign.
6. Reese St. Clair (Sr.), Indian Valley WR
On the other side of Hostetler you’ll find St. Clair, who snagged 15 catches, 359 yards and five touchdowns a season ago, joining his running mate on the IVC’s second team in the South Division.
5. Caleb Duebner (Sr.), Sandy Valley WR
Throughout his junior campaign, Duebner recorded 33 catches, 437 yards and averaged 43 yards per game. He was a first team selection in the IVC’s South Division. He will look to continue his success during his senior year under first year head coach, Torrance Carle.
4. Trey Miller, WR, Garaway jr.
At No. 4 we find our first non-senior, Miller produced 27 catches, 395 yards and two touchdowns during his sophomore season.
3. Dante Clark (Jr.), Dover WR
Under first year head coach, Matt Rees, Clark tailed 586 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore. With the Crimson Tornadoes moving into the Ohio Cardinal Conference this season, Rees will need his returning wide receiver to continue his underclassmen success.
2. Ryan Becker (Sr.), Strasburg WR
The top two, these are the players who are capable of big plays and it some ways, fans and coaches sometimes expect it. For Becker, he was a member of the IVC’s second team in the North Division and grabbed 50 receptions, 660 yards and nine touchdowns.
1. RJ Higgenbotham (Soph.), Conotton Valley WR
When you have the No. 1 player under center, your wide receivers are going to have success and lucky for the Rockets Higgenbotham put up monster numbers as freshman, totaling 56 catches, 895 yards and 10 touchdowns. He and Leggett will look to continue the connection they have established as he enters just his second season of high school football after averaging nearly 75 yards per game and 16 yards per catch.
