Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.

A Fortune 500 company based in Boston, Thermo Fisher provides laboratory equipment, chemicals, supplies, services, and software for scientific research, diagnostics, and manufacturing for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Its Reading, Ohio facility is a pharmaceutical development and manufacturing site where Thermo Fisher helps drug companies design, test, and produce tablet- and capsule-based medicines from early development through commercial production.

The facility employs more than 800 local workers.

Verst Logistics

Based in Walton, Kentucky, Verst Logistics provides warehousing, fulfillment, packaging, and transportation solutions for food and beverage, consumer goods, automotive and industrial companies.

Founded in 1966, the company has 28 warehouses and employs more 2,200 workers.

Records from OpenSecrets, a nonprofit that tracks campaign donations, show the company’s CEO Paul Verst has donated to Republicans like Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY. and State Reps. Kim Banta and Kimberly Moser as well as for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, plus several Democrats. He contributed $1,900 to Trump’s unsuccessful re-election bid in 2020.

“Our family, company, community, and employees look forward to hosting and welcoming the President,” Verst said in a statement. “It is an honor to host President Trump, and this day will certainly be remembered as a milestone in celebrating our 60-year anniversary this year.”
