Talk About Woodville looks at next festival

It’s almost Labor Day weekend, which means it’s time for Lime Fest 2026. It will be a little different from last year, but will still feature the game tournaments that folks enjoyed.

Earl Ransom, president of the Woodville Business and Community Association, is once again heading up the event and finalizing a few last details.

Much like last year, Ransom is planning events that highlight the grants and improvements made to Trail Marker Park. Some of those improvements included the installation of the disc golf course and the pickleball court, as well as resurfacing the basketball court. All came about with a Sandusky County Communities Foundation grant in 2023.

“Lime Fest will include tournaments in all three sports — basketball, pickleball and disc golf — to bring friendly competition to the community,” Ransom said last year as he planned the 2025 event.

In 2026, the Lime Fest will be a one-day event that starts at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 5. There are a few changes to the schedule, which will include line dancing this year.

“I saw how much fun people had line dancing at last year’s 4th of July Celebration, so I thought we would try it at Lime Fest,” Ransom said.

Lime Fest schedule

The schedule of events for 2026:

There will also be a scavenger hunt and raffles throughout the day.

Tournament registration forms will be available at the farmers market on Aug. 22, the Woodville Public Library and on the WBCA’s Facebook page.

Ransom’s vision for future Lime Fests includes adding a second day of fun and incorporating a parade, hopefully as soon as 2027.

Volunteers needed

Ransom is looking for volunteers to serve as referees, judges and scorekeepers for the tournaments. Volunteers are also needed to help with the Kid Zone and taking photos. And we cannot forget the all-important setup and teardown.

Volunteers and anyone looking for community service hours may contact Ransom at Earl.Ransom337@yahoo.com. Include your name, phone number and the activities with which you can help.

Please note that Cherry Street will be closed between Erie Street and Fort Findlay Road for the duration of the event.

Farm, Kidz Market at Trail Marker Park

The 5th annual Woodville Kidz Market will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 22 during the Woodville Farmers Market at Trail Marker Park.

The Kidz Market will showcase 20 young entrepreneurs at 14 booths. Young vendors will bring homemade products from lemonade to baked goods, jewelry to crocheted items and arts and crafts.

More than 20 vendors have signed up for this month’s farmers market, with many longtime favorites returning and about 10 new vendors, including a cake bar and a beverage truck.

More information and a list of vendors can be found on Facebook at @WoodvilleFarmersMarket43469 or by contacting WoodvilleFarmersMarket@gmail.com.

Anyone who would like to sponsor the Kidz Market may do so via PayPal at wbca43469@gmail.com or by contacting the Woodville Business and Community Association.

Historical Society meeting

The Woodville Historical Society’s next meeting is 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Woodville Public Library. Woodville’s own Mary Lou Busdiecker will present a program about Pioneer Pastor George Cronenwett, founder of Solomon Lutheran Church.

WUMC Rally Day

Woodville United Methodist Church is hosting its annual Rally Day at 10 a.m. Sept. 10. New faces are welcome to attend, meet current members and learn more about WUMC.

Back-to-School safety program

Woodmore and Solomon schools will be back in session next week, so it is time to be extra vigilant as children get back into the routine of traveling to and from school, whether on foot or school bus.

Officer Keith Jesse of the Woodville Police Department will present a program for families titled “Back to School Safety” from 5-6 p.m. Sept 14 at the Woodville Public Library. Attendees will learn the steps students can take for a safe and happy school year.
