Through media reports and other sources such as labor unions, USA TODAY has updated its running list of Kroger supermarkets that will close. Erin Rolfes, a spokesperson for Kroger, told USA TODAY previously that the company would not release a full list.
In a June 20 call with Wall Street analysts, interim CEO Ron Sargent said unprofitable stores will close in the next 18 months, The Enquirer previously reported. The closures represent about 2% of the chain’s 2,731 stores in 35 states.
