Leaf pickup schedule

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Citywide leaf pickup will begin on Nov. 10, starting in the downtown Central Business District, followed by north and south Broadway, east and west High avenues, Fourth Street NW and then the rest of the city

Leaves must be raked to the curb strip, but not in the street. Bagged leaves will also be collected.

Drive-thru turkey dinner

SHERRODSVILLE − The Sherrodsville Calvary Church will host a drive-thru turkey dinner from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14. Side dishes and desserts will be included. The cost is a donation to benefit the children’s ministry.

Sidewalk improvements in Uhrichsville

UHRICHSVILLE −The City of Uhrichsville will work withy Uhrichsville First Methodist Church to repair sidewalks along Third Street and the Panhandles Trail Corridor, according to Mayor James Zucal. The enhancements are part of the community’s ongoing efforts to beautify and prepare the area for the upcoming 250 Buckeye Train and Transportation Celebration in April.

4-H and FFA beef tag-in day is Dec. 13.

NEW PHILADELPHIA − 4-H and FFA youth interested in exhibiting a market beef animal at the 2026 Tuscarawas County Fair will need to present their animal at market beef tag-in December 13 from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Main Show Arena at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds. There is no make-up date. No pre-registration is needed. 2026 Ohio State Fair beef DNA sample kits will be available. More information can be found at go.osu.edu/tuscanimalsciences.

Learn to brew better coffee

DOVER − Dave Hart, owner of three coffee shops, will give a brief overview of the specialty coffee industry at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19, at the Dover Public Library. Hart will also demonstrate various pour-over coffee techniques and coffee samples will be available at the conclusion of the demonstration.

Dave Hart is a Tuscarawas County native with a degree in culinary arts. He is the owner of three coffee shops in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.

Governor appointments

COLUMBUS − Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Shane Stull of Port Washington to the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services for a term of Oct. 31 of Nov. 12, 2027.

He also appointed Joseph Price of Massillon to the Public Benefits Advisory Board for a term of Oct. 31 to June 30, 2028.

Poirier discusses ‘Murder & Mayhem’

DOVER − Local author and historian Noel B. Poirier will discuss his book, “Tuscarawas County Murder & Mayhem,” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11, at the Dover Public Library. Poirier’s book reveals some of the darker happenings that have unsettled residents of Tuscarawas County in the past. The stories include a case of extortion, an incident of grave robbing and a bombing. Poirier will tell how his book came about and he will give some background on several of the stories found in the book as well as other cases. A book signing will follow.

● The Tuscarawas County Beekeepers Association will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 13, at the Grace Lutheran Church Outreach Center in Dover.

● The Union Township trustees will meet Nov. 19, at 2360 Roxford Church Rd SE, Dennison.

● Conotton Valley School Board will meet Nov. 19, in the administrative conference room at the Rocket Center.
