Ohio Bison Barber 13U wins Perfect Game regional event

The Ohio Bison 13U Barber baseball team took its show on the road last week and measured up better than the rest. It finished a perfect 8-0 to win the Perfect Game Gulf Shores Regional World Series in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The Bison formed at the 9U level. Since that formation, the team has won 166 games, including 15 championships.

The Bison rallied for a thrilling 6-5 victory in the championship game, beating KBA Prime Black (Kentucky). Seth Luce, who fired four scoreless innings of relief, was able to close the game when Syrus Wetzel and Ajay Barber Jr. turned a game-ending double play.

Keagan Williams hit a go-ahead home run after a double from Parker Rose and singles from Avery Amon and Gavin Duvall. Eason Wilborn earlier singled home Luce as the Bison overcame a 5-1 deficit.

The Bison had previously recorded two walk-off wins in the event. Williams’ home run and an Amon single following Rose’s three-run tying triple were the difference in those contests. Colton Moyer also fired a four-hit shutout in a victory.

Williams hit two of the Bison’s five home runs during the tournament with Garrett Wesney, James Carpenter and Wilborn also going deep. Carpenter hit a team-best .818, and Kaedyn Sullivan knocked in a team-best nine runs.

Luce and Barber Jr. did not allow an earned run from the mound, and they combined on an opening 13-0 shutout against Roos Bama to begin the tournament.
