Come celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with Millersport from 1 to 4 p.m. July 19 at Veteran’s Park. The celebration has been rescheduled due to the weather on the original date. Veteran’s Park is located at 2245 Refugee Street in Millersport.
The celebration will feature the rededication of Millersport’s time capsule. There will be live entertainment by Perfect Timing Band. There will be food by Poppy’s Food Truck and Weldon’s Ice Cream. The afternoon promises fun for the whole family. All proceeds will benefit the First Responders Bridge Foundation.
A car show will be held with registration beginning at 10 a.m. Registration is $15 per vehicle. Commemorative Dash Plaques will be given to the first 50 registered vehicles. People’s Choice and Sponsor awards will be given.
Cruisin’ on the Commons
Cruisin’ on the Commons will be held at the Millersport Lions Park, Home of the Sweet Corn Festival, from 5 to 8 p.m. July 17. Registration will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Cars, trucks and motorcycles can be registered for $15 per vehicle. There will be lots of fun, music, food, door prizes, 50/50 and trophies. Prizes are awarded in classes Pre 1972, 1973-1999, and newer. For more information, call 614-562-1919. The event is hosted by the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival Committee. Proceeds will benefit Millersport Lions-supported charities.
VBS
Millersport Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. until noon July 20 to 24 at the church, 2310 Refugee Street in Millersport. VBS theme this year is “Emerald Crossing.”
Summer lunch program
Millersport Community Food Pantry’s Summer Lunch Program will continue on July 20 at the Fairfield Beach Baseball Park, 13165 Cedar Road at Fairfield Beach. Free meals are available for all school-aged children of Walnut Township Local Schools. Perishable and non-perishable food items will be available to take home. Children are invited to come out and enjoy the food and time with friends.
Senior citizens
The Fairfield Beach Senior Citizens met July 8, at the Tornado Shelter/Community Center at Fairfield Beach. President Ken Keener welcomed those in attendance. He led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and offered the prayer before lunch. Fried Chicken was the main entrée provided by the club for the potluck lunch.
Following lunch, President Keener conducted the business meeting. The group enjoyed playing Bingo. Anyone who is 55 years of age and better is encouraged to join the group on the second Wednesday of each month for fellowship, good food and fun.
Walnut Township Trustees
The Walnut Township Trustees had the official bid opening for the 2026 Road Paving at their June meeting. The project was awarded to The Shelley Company.
Sgt. Williams of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office was present with a report on activities in the township for the month of May.
Minutes of the May meeting and the Fiscal Officer’s reports were acknowledged.
Public comments were made concerning parking at the parks at Fairfield Beach.
Zoning Inspector Mike Berry reported on permits issued, violations, phone calls returned and his attendance at the Regional Planning meeting.
Parks and Roads Supervisor Nathan Wagner reported on the benches and upkeep at New Salem Park, mowing and ditch work.
Walnut Township Fire Chief Price reported on May run totals, equipment repairs, training and upcoming events to be covered.

The trustees entered into Executive Session to discuss the appointments, employments, and compensation of public employees.
