Hundreds of people checked out the books and other materials loaded on tables Aug. 1 on the first day of the annual Friends of Rodman Public Library Used Book Sale. A long line of customers waited outside the library before the start of the first day of the sale that returned to the library for the first time after several years at the nearby Alliance Commons. Those checking out the books found deals on such items as hardbacks, paperbacks, children’s titles, DVDs and CDs. Volunteers were on hand throughout the day to reload the tables in the various areas of Rodman Library from an inventory of thousands of items. The sale continues from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 5. The sale on Wednesday is pay by donation. Money raised from the sale are used to buy equipment for the library, fund special projects and general library programming.
